Printed by Goodspeed Publishing Co. of Chicago in 1888, reprinted 1970 by Ramfre Press of Cape Girardeau. Includes a brief history of Missouri along with histories of each county, plus an appendix of biographical sketches. Since much of the material was submitted by readers, the Goodspeed series is often called "vanity press", filled with useful but often embellished and inaccurate information. If something like this was published today, it would probably be called "Who's Who of American Pioneers."
