Name origin
Named for William A. Naylor, county land surveyor
who served as a Union army captain from Indiana.
Previous names
The town was originally called Barfield in honor
of the Barfield family which first settled here. Because of confusion
with Barfield, Arkansas, the post office changed its name to Naylor in
1892.
